NIFTY:
Nifty opened 15877.55 with a big gap down of 324 points. The index recorded its intraday high at 15886.15 a few ticks above the opening price and continued moving lower. Prices have added more than 100 points on the downside and then moved up. The rally found strong intraday resistance around 15800,consolidated there for a couple of hours, and then broke down A sharp decline brought prices to its intraday low at 15684 and then prices moved up again more than 100 points to finally close at 15774.40 with a loss of 427.40 points or 2.64% down. All the sectoral indices have ended with a loss today. FMCG outperformed today and ended nearly 1% down.IT led the Bears today by losing more than 4%. BANK, Financial, METAL, and REALTY followed by ending more than 3% down. Resistance should now emerge around the 15900 – 16000 zone. A rally towards this zo ne and holding the resistance will also give us a shorting opportunity. As of now, we should avoid buying in the index.
BANK NIFTY:
Bank Nifty opened at 33728.65 with a big gap down of 753 points. The index moved further on the downside after recording its intraday high at 34752.45. The decline stopped after the first hour of trading and prices went into consolidation. That consolidation continued for the rest of the day, prices have recorded its intraday low at 34346.65 and finally closed at 33441.70 wit h a big loss of 1040 points. PSU and PVT BANKS both indices have performed almost the same today, saw a sharp intraday decline, and ended with a loss of 3.58% & 3.57%. Within the index, in terms of points, ICIC IBANK contributed the highest on the downside followed by HDFC BANK.
As of now, we should avoid trading the index and wait for a suitable setup to emerge. If the index takes a U-Turn then we will look for a buying and if prices close below 33000 supports, then we will look for a shorting opportunity.
