India’s auto industry posted a mixed performance in June 2025, closing Q1 FY26 with varied trends across segments. While domestic demand faced pressure from rural softness and macro uncertainties, exports surged for key players like Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, and Hyundai, providing crucial support. EV sales maintained momentum, and tractor volumes rose on the back of early monsoons and improved farm sentiment. Commercial vehicles showed stability with selective growth. As the industry enters Q2, easing monetary conditions, festive demand, and global traction offer cautious optimism, even as supply challenges and geopolitical risks remain key concerns for sustained recovery.

  1. Bajaj Auto: The Company reported flat overall sales for June 2025, with total volumes at 3.60 lakh units (+1% YoY). 2-wheeler domestic sales declined 16% YoY due to rural weakness, while exports rose 18%, partially offsetting the decline. Hyundai remains focused on value, innovation, and expanding its global footprint under the “Make in India” initiative.
