The project focuses on capturing methane emissions generated from sewage treatment operations and converting them into commercially usable energy. According to the company, the Bio-CNG plant is projected to help reduce nearly 250,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions over the project lifecycle. Commercial operations are expected to begin within approximately one year from the commencement of development activities.

Under the collaboration framework, VA Tech WABAG will oversee engineering, project execution, and long-term plant operations. The company will also manage operation and maintenance responsibilities for a period of 15 years after commissioning.
PEAK Sustainability Ventures will provide strategic support for the project and assist in mobilising climate-focused funding for future expansion opportunities in the waste-to-energy sector.
The collaboration reflects increasing industry interest in circular economy models where municipal and industrial waste streams are converted into renewable energy resources.
