NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, has successfully commissioned the second phase of its 300 MW Solar Power Project at Barsingsar, located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan.

The newly commissioned 106 MW capacity has been declared commercially operational following the receipt of a commissioning certificate from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) on November 2, 2025.

This milestone reinforces NLCIL’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint and aligns with India’s broader clean energy goals.

Project Progress and Capacity Update

The first phase of the project, with a capacity of 52.83 MW, was declared operational on August 26, 2025.

With the completion of the second phase, NLCIL’s total operational capacity at Barsingsar has reached 158.83 MW out of the planned 300 MW.

The remaining capacity is expected to be commissioned in subsequent phases, taking the project closer to full-scale operation.

Advancing India’s Renewable Goals

The Barsingsar Solar Project is a key component of NLCIL’s strategy to diversify its energy portfolio beyond fossil fuels. Once fully operational, the 300 MW project will supply clean and sustainable power to the regional grid, contributing to Rajasthan’s renewable energy capacity and India’s national target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

The project will also play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, promoting energy security, and supporting the state’s green development initiatives.
