India’s passenger vehicle (PV) exports posted a robust 18.4% year-on-year growth in the first half of FY26, reaching 4,45,884 units between April and September 2025, compared to 3,76,679 units during the same period last year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Segment-Wise Export Trends

Passenger car exports rose 12% year-on-year to 2,29,281 units, while utility vehicle (UV) shipments surged 26% to 2,11,373 units, highlighting the sustained global demand for SUVs and crossovers. Van exports also recorded strong growth of 36.5%, reaching 5,230 units in the first six months of the fiscal year.

Maruti Suzuki Leads the Export Chart

Maruti Suzuki India Limited continued to dominate India’s passenger vehicle export market, shipping 2,05,763 units during April–September 2025 — a 40% jump from 1,47,063 units in the same period last year.

Hyundai Motor India ranked second with 99,540 units, marking a 17% increase, while Nissan Motor India took the third spot with 37,605 units, up from 33,059 units a year earlier.

Other significant contributors included:

  • Volkswagen India: 28,011 units
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor: 18,880 units
  • Kia India: 13,666 units
  • Honda Cars India: 13,243 units

Strong Global Demand Fuels Growth

SIAM attributed the export uptick to sustained demand from major international markets, especially in the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia. Indian automakers registered export gains across 24 countries, including Korea, UAE, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil, reflecting India’s growing prominence as a global automotive export hub.
