Chennai-based EV startup Raptee.HV is set to begin commercial production and delivery of its high-voltage electric motorcycle, the T30, starting November 2025. The company has already received advance orders for around 8,000 units, highlighting strong early market interest.

Raptee.HV is the first EV motorcycle OEM in India to receive financial support from the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, which had previously backed Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. The firm is adapting high-voltage electric car technology for two-wheelers, setting it apart from competitors relying on existing platforms.

Production and Capacity Plans

CEO and Co-Founder Dinesh Arjun stated:

“We are going to start putting bikes on the road for end customers from November. Initially, production will scale to 300 bikes a month, with a current facility capacity of 1,500 units per month, expandable to 9,000 units monthly or 100,000 units annually. With an additional 40 acres acquired, we can scale even further.”

Raptee.HV also secured a ₹3.25 crore non-dilutive grant from ARAI-AMTIF in 2021 and obtained certification for the T30 earlier this year. A media launch is planned by the end of October, with mass production to follow.

Technology and Market Focus

Raptee.HV has spent over six years developing its proprietary high-voltage technology from the ground up, making it the only Indian EV motorcycle powered by proven high-voltage car technology.

“High-voltage motorcycles are our USP. For motorcycles to gain popularity in India, you need high voltage,” said Arjun.

The startup aims to capitalize on the $1 billion performance electric motorcycle segment and is also planning extensive retail expansion, targeting 60 cities by year three and 100 cities by year four, focusing on Tier I and II markets.

Funding Update

Raptee.HV has raised $5 million in pre-Series A funding and is in the process of closing a $20 million Series A round, through a mix of debt and equity, to accelerate production and technology advancement.

Strategic Significance

With motorcycles accounting for nearly two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market, electrification is key to achieving the 2030 target of 30% EV penetration in two-wheelers. Raptee.HV’s high-voltage T30 aims to combine performance, scalability, and sustainability, positioning it as a pioneer in India’s electric motorcycle segment.
