Lucknow-based PTC Industries Limited has signed a landmark agreement with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to create a joint venture (JV) focused on advanced propulsion systems for missiles, UAVs, and loitering munitions. This partnership underscores India’s ongoing push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Strategic Alliance to Enhance Indigenous Defence Manufacturing
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formalized during the inauguration of PTC’s Titanium & Superalloys Materials Plant at its Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in Lucknow. The event was graced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The JV is set to develop and manufacture propulsion systems, guided bombs, and aero-engines, including liquid and solid rocket motors, ramjet engines, and turbojet engines for UAVs and drones. By focusing on homegrown technologies, the collaboration aims to reduce India’s reliance on foreign suppliers while strengthening the domestic defence ecosystem.
PTC Industries’ Expansion and Vision for the Future
Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries, highlighted the strategic importance of the venture:
“This partnership with Bharat Dynamics Limited represents a decisive step toward building India’s capabilities in critical propulsion and engine technologies. By combining BDL’s proven systems expertise with PTC’s precision-engineering and materials capabilities, we are creating an indigenous, future-ready ecosystem for missiles, UAVs, and next-generation strategic platforms, fully aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
The joint venture is expected to catalyse innovation in aerospace propulsion technologies and contribute significantly to India’s defence self-reliance, ensuring advanced systems are designed, developed, and manufactured domestically.
