Prostarm Info Systems Limited has announced a strategic collaboration in the energy storage space by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shenzhen Topband Co. Ltd. The agreement outlines a potential partnership to develop battery energy storage systems (BESS), with a focus on localisation and technology integration.
MoU Establishes Framework for Collaboration
The MoU sets the foundation for cooperation between the two companies under a semi-knocked down (SKD) manufacturing model. The arrangement is designed to combine Topband’s technological expertise with Prostarm’s local manufacturing and market capabilities.
Defined Roles and Operational Scope
Under the proposed structure:
- Shenzhen Topband will provide SKD kits, along with core technology and technical know-how
- Prostarm will undertake local assembly, system integration, and commercial deployment within India
The collaboration is expected to address multiple segments, including commercial and industrial applications, residential energy solutions, and utility-scale storage projects. Products developed may be marketed either jointly or under individual brand identities, depending on project requirements.
Strategic Alignment with Domestic Manufacturing Goals
The initiative aligns with India’s push towards strengthening domestic manufacturing under programmes such as “Make in India.” By enabling local production of advanced energy storage solutions, the partnership aims to accelerate technology adoption and reduce reliance on imports.
The company believes this collaboration will strengthen its position in the energy storage ecosystem while expanding its participation across a broader range of infrastructure and clean energy projects.
Financial Commitment and Next Steps
As part of the proposed arrangement, Prostarm has outlined a minimum procurement commitment of USD 10 million over an 18-month period from the date of the first commercial order, subject to final agreements.
Detailed terms and conditions are expected to be finalised upon execution of definitive agreements and receipt of necessary approvals.
Summary:
Prostarm Info Systems has signed an MoU with Shenzhen Topband to explore BESS manufacturing in India under an SKD model. The partnership focuses on technology transfer, local assembly, and expanding energy storage solutions, with a minimum procurement commitment of USD 10 million over 18 months, subject to final agreements.
