Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is in focus after the company announced that it has emerged as the successful bidder for the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.
The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on June 16, 2026, and will execute the project under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
Power Grid Wins Inter-Regional Transmission Project
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has secured the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A, strengthening its transmission portfolio.
The project will be implemented through the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) model after receiving the Letter of Intent.
Key Project Scope
The transmission project includes:
- Establishment of 2 new 765/400 kV substations
- Jharkhand
- Chhattisgarh
- Extension of existing substations in:
- Chhattisgarh
- West Bengal
- Construction of:
- 765 kV transmission lines
- 400 kV transmission lines
The transmission network will pass through:
- Jharkhand
- Chhattisgarh
- Odisha
The project is aimed at strengthening inter-regional transmission connectivity between the Western and Eastern grids.
Recent Board Approvals
Earlier, the company’s Board approved several important proposals.
SCADA System Upgradation
Power Grid approved:
- Investment: ₹485.04 crore
The investment will be used for upgrading:
- SCADA systems
- Associated infrastructure
- NTAMC/RTAMC facilities
Japanese Loan Facility
The Board also approved an unsecured term loan of:
¥80 billion
The financing will be arranged through:
- Japan Bank for International Cooperation
- Participating financial institutions
The proceeds will support the company’s financing requirements.
