The 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will be released on June 20, 2026, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferring ₹18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore eligible farmers from Tarakeswar, Hooghly district, West Bengal.

Major Agriculture Initiatives to Be Launched

Alongside the PM-KISAN installment, the government will announce several new agricultural initiatives.

Crop Insurance Expansion

The government will roll out:

  • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
  • Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS)

Key targets include:

  • Coverage for nearly 1.10 crore farmers
  • Around 30 lakh hectares under insurance during 2026–27
  • Combined Centre-State subsidy of approximately ₹777 crore

Digital Agriculture Mission

The Digital Agriculture Mission (AgriStack) will also be expanded to integrate:

  • Fertiliser distribution
  • Kisan Credit Cards
  • MSP procurement
  • Direct Benefit Transfers
  • Digital farmer services on a unified platform

National Mission on Natural Farming

The government plans to establish:

  • 346 natural farming clusters
  • Covering 17,300 hectares
  • Benefiting over 43,000 farmers across West Bengal

Why PM-KISAN Matters

PM-KISAN provides eligible farmer families with ₹6,000 annually, distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000, helping support agricultural expenses and improve rural financial security.
