NBCC (India) Ltd has emerged in the spotlight after securing a major township development contract in Nagpur worth nearly ₹2,966 crore, according to a PTI report. The Navratna public sector enterprise has been appointed as the Executing and Implementing Agency as well as the Project Management Consultant for a key phase of the Naveen Nagpur project being undertaken by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA).

NBCC to Lead First Phase of Naveen Nagpur Township

On November 24, 2025, the company formalised its agreement with NMRDA for the execution of the project’s first phase—an expansive 1,710-acre greenfield township seen as one of the most ambitious urban development initiatives in the region. The project involves both construction responsibilities and end-to-end project management support.
This contract follows an MoU signed earlier on September 8, 2025, marking the transition from planning to full-scale implementation.

Strong Q2 FY26 Performance Despite Segmental Pressure

NBCC posted a robust set of numbers for Q2 FY26, reporting a 25% jump in consolidated net profit to ₹156.68 crore, up from ₹125.13 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations also grew 19% year-on-year, reaching ₹2,910.20 crore.

The Project Management Consultancy (PMC) division—NBCC’s core business—remained the top revenue generator with ₹2,835.94 crore, rising 30.22% YoY.
However, other business verticals struggled during the quarter:

  • The EPC segment saw a steep 67.84% decline to ₹67.4 crore.
  • The real estate segment posted a 91.88% fall, contributing only ₹4.66 crore.

NBCC’s Evolving Role in India’s Urban Infrastructure

Founded in 1960 and awarded Navratna status in 2014, NBCC continues to serve as a key public sector force in India’s construction, redevelopment, and infrastructure landscape. The company manages a wide portfolio of government buildings, housing projects, and redevelopment assignments across India and select international locations, supported by multiple regional and strategic business groups.

Summary

NBCC has secured a ₹2,966-crore township project in Nagpur under the Naveen Nagpur initiative, strengthening its position as a major government-backed infrastructure developer. The company reported a solid 25% profit growth in Q2 FY26, driven largely by its strong PMC operations, even as EPC and real estate revenues declined.
