Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Employment and Training, Government of Gujarat, to establish five Advanced Manufacturing Labs (AMLs) across Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state. The initiative is aimed at enhancing industry-oriented skill development and preparing students for careers in modern automotive manufacturing.

Five Gujarat ITIs Selected

The new Advanced Manufacturing Labs will be established at ITIs located in:

  • Palanpur
  • Bhavnagar
  • Surendranagar
  • Godhra
  • Dahod

These facilities will provide students with practical training using modern manufacturing equipment and technologies aligned with industry requirements.

Supporting Gujarat Manufacturing Expansion

Maruti Suzuki stated that the initiative complements its long-term manufacturing expansion plans in Gujarat.

Senior Executive Officer – Corporate Affairs, Rahul Bharti, said the Advanced Manufacturing Labs will provide students with experiential learning and practical exposure, enabling them to integrate more effectively into the evolving automotive industry.

He also noted that as the company’s manufacturing footprint in Gujarat expands, the demand for skilled technicians and manufacturing professionals is expected to increase, making workforce development an important priority.

Bridging the Industry Skill Gap

According to Stuti Charan, IAS, Director of the Directorate of Employment and Training, Government of Gujarat, the programme is designed to reduce the gap between classroom education and industrial requirements by offering hands-on training through modern manufacturing laboratories.

The initiative is expected to improve students’ employability while strengthening the availability of skilled manpower for the manufacturing sector.
