EyeROV, a deep-tech startup specialising in underwater robotics, has secured a ₹47 crore contract from the Indian Navy to supply advanced Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs). The systems will enhance the Navy’s capabilities in underwater surveillance, reconnaissance, and other specialised missions.

Deal Overview

The contract covers EyeROV’s indigenously designed UWROVs, which have been tested in extreme conditions — including operations at depths beyond 400 metres and expeditions in the Antarctic Sea. The deployment marks a major milestone in India’s push to strengthen indigenous defence technology under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Technology and Applications

EyeROV’s flagship model, the TROUT, has a depth rating of 300 metres and supports multiple payloads for defence as well as commercial applications. The company has previously deployed its remotely operated vehicles in disaster recovery, dam safety inspections, offshore energy projects, and naval assignments.

With a fully in-house technology stack, EyeROV underscores India’s growing ability to build advanced marine defence solutions domestically, reducing reliance on imports.

Leadership Speak

Johns T Mathai, Co-Founder and CEO of EyeROV, said:
“This recognition is a true reward for our dedicated efforts over the past 8 years. We sincerely thank the iDEX and Navy teams for their support in fostering advanced indigenous solutions. Our vision has always been to serve the nation by delivering technologies that are at par with global standards.”

Kannappa P, Co-Founder and CTO, added:
“For 8 years, EyeROV has engineered underwater systems tested in the harshest conditions. This partnership with the Navy is proof that Indian innovation can set benchmarks globally in defence deep-tech.”
