The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has expanded its Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP) with the establishment of nine additional Technology Centres, increasing the national network from 18 to 27 centres. The move aims to strengthen technological capabilities, skill development, and innovation across the MSME ecosystem.
Government Support and Funding
To further accelerate implementation and operations, the government has allocated:
| Financial Year | Allocation | Purpose |
| 2025–26 | ₹200 crore (~$24 million) | Establishment, operations, and skill development under TCSP |
This allocation underscores the government’s continued focus on advancing digital transformation and high-end vocational training for MSMEs.
Skill Development and Training Impact
In 2024–25, both the newly launched and existing Technology Centres collectively trained:
- Over 3.28 lakh individuals, including:
- MSME entrepreneurs
- Employees
- Youth seeking advanced vocational and technical skills
The centres are designed to equip India’s workforce with industry-ready competencies aligned with emerging technology sectors.
Focus on Advanced Technology Domains
The Technology Centres under the TCSP are offering specialised programs in cutting-edge domains, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Robotics
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Digital Manufacturing and Smart Automation
Training modules are available in both short-term and long-term formats, ensuring accessibility for students, professionals, and MSME operators.
Role of TCSP in MSME Competitiveness
The programme plays a critical role in strengthening India’s MSME ecosystem by:
- Bridging the skills and capability gap between industry requirements and available talent
- Enhancing productivity, efficiency, and innovation in MSME operations
- Supporting technology adoption and modernisation across key manufacturing and service sectors
By creating a future-ready technical workforce, the TCSP is positioned to boost MSMEs’ contributions to national economic growth and global competitiveness.
