The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users to make the verification procedure easier and improve overall customer experience. As per the revised guidelines issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), FASTag services for non-compliant vehicles will not be deactivated immediately, allowing users ample time to complete the process.

Streamlined Documentation and Auto Verification

Under the new KYV framework, users are now required to upload only a front image of their vehicle showing the number plate and FASTag—eliminating the need for side photographs. The system can now automatically fetch vehicle registration data from the Vahan database once users enter their Vehicle Number, Chassis Number, or Mobile Number.

Additionally, when multiple vehicles are linked to the same mobile number, users can select the specific vehicle for which they wish to complete KYV verification.

Continued FASTag Services and Assistance

FASTags issued prior to the implementation of the new KYV policy will remain active, except in cases of misuse or loose tag reports. Issuing banks have been directed to send SMS reminders and offer proactive assistance to customers facing technical issues while uploading documents.

For any KYV-related queries or support, users can reach out to the National Highway Helpline at 1033.
