Colab Platforms Limited has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RRP Drones Innovation Pvt. Ltd. to jointly design, develop, and deploy AI-powered, all-weather autonomous aerial surveillance drones. The collaboration will span multiple sectors, including agriculture, industrial sites, law enforcement, energy and infrastructure, border patrol, and defence.

As part of the agreement, both companies plan to establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Companies Act, 2013, to oversee the development and commercialization of multi-purpose drone technologies.

Colab’s Entry into the Drone Sector

The proposed SPV will be jointly promoted and will focus on end-to-end capabilities—from design and development to deployment and commercial scaling of drones. The MoU is currently non-binding, with further details on structure and execution expected as the partnership advances. Both companies clarified that there is no existing shareholding or related-party relationship between them.

Target Sectors and Drone Applications

The collaboration seeks to develop drones for a wide range of critical applications, including:

  • Border security and defence surveillance
  • Industrial monitoring and infrastructure inspection
  • Law enforcement and disaster response
  • Agriculture productivity and precision farming
  • Environmental monitoring and protection

The goal is to convert initial pilot projects into large-scale, multi-year programs that strengthen national security, safeguard critical infrastructure, and improve efficiency in sectors such as agriculture.

Market Outlook and Policy Support

India’s drone market is projected to reach ₹1,95,000 crore by 2030, driven by supportive government policies, including a ₹120 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and Kisan Drone subsidies that encourage adoption across industries.

Globally, the commercial drone market is expected to touch $55–90 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 7.7%–14.3%, highlighting strong medium-term opportunities.

Strategic Rationale and Company Overview

Colab Platforms emphasized that the partnership aligns with the convergence of AI, robotics, and national priorities, placing the venture in a high-growth, government-supported sector. The focus will be on advancing security, surveillance, and agricultural efficiency through autonomous drone technology.

Colab Platforms currently operates across esports, sports infrastructure, events, influencer collaborations, and digital content delivery, and is now expanding into aerospace and drone technology with this initiative.

Summary:
Colab Platforms Limited has signed a non-binding MoU with RRP Drones to establish an SPV for developing and commercializing AI-powered autonomous surveillance drones. The partnership targets applications in defence, border security, law enforcement, industry, and agriculture, tapping into India’s ₹1,95,000 crore drone market by 2030, supported by policy incentives and global growth momentum.
