Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), India’s largest conglomerate, has officially launched a new subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Limited, as part of its ambitious drive into Artificial Intelligence (AI). The announcement was made on September 10, 2025, through a stock exchange filing.

According to the disclosure, the company received its certificate of incorporation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on September 9, marking the formal establishment of the subsidiary. This move comes just weeks after Chairman Mukesh Ambani outlined Reliance’s AI vision during the group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Strategic Focus of Reliance Intelligence

Reliance Intelligence has been set up with a clear four-pronged mission:

  1. AI Infrastructure – Building gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers across India.
  2. Global Collaborations – Partnering with international players to bring cutting-edge AI solutions.
  3. AI for India – Creating AI-powered services tailored to the country’s needs.
  4. Talent Development – Investing in upskilling and nurturing India’s AI workforce.

Construction has already begun on the first set of large-scale data centers in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which will run entirely on green energy from Reliance’s clean energy ecosystem. These facilities will support both AI training and inference at a national scale, addressing the surging demand for high-performance computing.

AGM Announcements and Leadership Transition

At the August AGM, Mukesh Ambani had highlighted AI as one of Reliance’s core growth frontiers for the coming decade. He emphasized that Reliance Intelligence would not only create India’s largest AI infrastructure but also help make the country globally competitive in the AI revolution.

The AGM also showcased the next generation of Reliance leadership.

  • Akash Ambani presented growth plans for the telecom vertical (Jio).
  • Isha Ambani outlined strategies for the retail segment.
  • Anant Ambani, the youngest of the three, made his first AGM address after being appointed an executive director in May, signaling his expanding role in Reliance’s future plans.

Why This Matters

Reliance’s push into AI is in line with global trends where tech giants are investing heavily in cloud infrastructure, generative AI, and clean energy-powered computing ecosystems. With its vast capital base, energy integration, and telecom reach, RIL is uniquely positioned to build AI infrastructure at scale, something India has so far lagged in.

This development also underlines the company’s vision of making India a hub for AI research, development, and deployment, while simultaneously accelerating the nation’s digital and green economy transitions.

Summary

  • Reliance Industries has set up a new subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Limited, incorporated on September 9, 2025.
  • The unit will focus on AI infrastructure, global partnerships, AI services for India, and talent development.
  • Gigawatt-scale green energy-powered data centers are already under construction in Jamnagar.
  • The move builds on AI plans revealed at Reliance’s August AGM, where the Ambani siblings showcased future growth strategies.
  • This marks Reliance’s most significant step yet in transforming India into a global AI powerhouse.
