
SPML Infra Limited, in a joint venture with JWIL Infra Limited, has won a ₹1,438 crore (approx. USD 163 million) contract from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Bharatpur, Rajasthan, under the Jal Jeevan Mission. SPML Infra will lead the contract with a 51% share, marking one of its most significant project wins in recent years.
Project Scope and Impact
The large-scale initiative is aimed at strengthening water supply infrastructure across the Dholpur and Saipau blocks of Rajasthan, benefiting over 1.5 million residents with reliable access to drinking water.
Key components of the project include:
- Construction of an intake well.
- Development of two Raw Water Reservoirs (10 MCM and 12 MCM) on the Chambal River.
- Laying of 712 kilometres of pipelines ranging from 100 mm to 2000 mm in diameter.
- Construction of 21 Elevated Service Reservoirs (ESRs).
- Establishment of Raw Water Pumping Stations.
- Installation of a 135 MLD Water Treatment Plant at RWR-2 and a 5 MLD Plant at Dholpur.
- Setting up cluster pumping stations, clear water and rising mains.
- Provision of functional household tap connections in Dholpur and Saipau.
Timeline and Execution
- The EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) portion of the project is scheduled to be completed within 20 months.
- This will be followed by a one-year defect liability period.
- A 10-year Operation & Maintenance (O&M) phase is also included in the contract, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Strategic Importance
The project falls under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship Government of India program aimed at providing tap water to every rural household by 2024. For SPML Infra, which has a strong track record in water management and infrastructure development, this order strengthens its position as a key player in India’s water sector.
