Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) has secured a contract from Airbus Helicopters to manufacture the main fuselage of the H125 single-engine helicopter. Production will begin immediately at MASPL’s Bengaluru facility, with the first fuselage delivery scheduled for 2027, according to reports. Financial details were not disclosed.
Second Airbus Win in 5 Months
This marks the second major Airbus contract for MASPL in under five months. In April 2025, Airbus selected the company to build the fuselage for the H130 helicopter. With these back-to-back deals, MASPL is now responsible for fuselages of two Airbus single-engine models, strengthening India’s role in the global aerospace supply chain.
About the H125
The H125 is among the world’s most widely used single-engine helicopters, deployed in passenger transport, tourism, aerial work, rescue operations, law enforcement, and medical evacuation. Airbus has indicated that the India-built H125 will also meet certain armed forces requirements.
Airbus’ Growing India Presence
Airbus is currently setting up two Final Assembly Lines (FALs) in India with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd — one for the H125 helicopter and another for the C295 military aircraft. These projects will expand India’s role from component manufacturing to end-to-end assembly and integration.
At present, Airbus sources $1.4 billion worth of components and services annually from India, with further opportunities expected in helicopter emergency medical services, disaster management, and law enforcement once the H125 assembly line is operational.
