The Nifty opened at 17363.55 without much of a gap. Prices first moved up but that rally fizzled out quickly the index trend down. The index moved down more than 100 points in the first hour of trading and recorded its intraday low at 17269.15. Prices then bounced up from that low and rallied more than 100 points. Prices have broken its early morning highs and recorded its intraday high at 15378.35 and finally closed at 17355.30 with a loss of 13.95 points. The Banks and Financial have underperformed and ended with a loss. Metal and Media was the outperformed and ended with a gain of more than 1%. IT alspo performed well and ended almost 1% higher.
The Nifty started the week by trading narrow and ended with a marginal loss. The short term trend is still up. Prices have been very volatile as they have seen a move of more than 100 points in both directions.
For the last seven trading days, the index has been moving within a range of just 200 points inside 17250-17450. Traders should look to buy above 17450 or a dip below 17250. Keep a stop of 110 points and a target of 220 points.
Bank Nifty opened at 36608.45 with a gap down of 60 points. The index first moved up filled the gap and then recorded its intraday high at 36724.85 within the first 5 minutes of trading. Prices then saw a sharp fall for the next one hour and recorded its intraday low at 36327.05. The index then moved narrow, choppy and sideways. Private and PSU Banks both have performed almost same and ended with a loss of 0.53% and 0.41% respectively. Within the index, Kotak Bank contributed highest while ICICI bank the lowest.
A range of 36200 and 37000 remained intact.

|•India’s retail inflation in August marginally eased to 5.3%, staying within Reserve Bank of India’s comfort zone for a second month, government data showed on Monday. The consumer price inflation was at 5.60% in August, little changed from a three-month low of 5.59% in July. Inflation is within RBI’s 2%-6% comfort range for a second month. But it has been above the medium-term target of 4% for nearly two years.
•Tata Motors on Monday said it has launched the CNG version of its light commercial vehicle Tata 407 priced at Rs12.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Tapping into the benefits of CNG, the vehicle offers profits of up to 35 per cent over the diesel variant, Tata Motors said in a statement.
•Aluminum reached $3,000 a ton in London for the first time in 13 years amid expectations that supply disruptions are here to stay, while demand keeps rising. The metal has surged about 15% over the past three weeks as supply risks increase throughout the industry, from bauxite mining in Guinea and alumina refining in Jamaica to aluminum smelting in China and beyond.
•Vedanta Resources Ltd (VRL) on Monday announced that the company has reduced its net debt by USD 300 million in the first half of this fiscal and expects to further reduce its debt by USD 500 million in the second half of FY’22. With the entire debt repayment at Volcan, the pledge on all the equity shares of VRL has been released, the company said in a statement.
