NIFTY:

The Nifty opened at 15279.90 with a gap down of 33 points. The index continued its weak momentum and fell down further 80 points. Around 10:00 AM, prices stabilized and then started moving higher, recovered from all the losses, and recorded its intraday high at 15314.30. However the index did not sustain at these high levels long enough. Another round of sharp decline came and prices have recorded its intraday low at 15170.75. The Nifty finally closed at 15208.90 with a loss of 104.55 points. The Media sector has performed well and closed higher by 2.18% while the Pharma and IT sectors have led the decline.

We were long in the index from 15310 with a stop at 15200 and target of around 1550. Prices have touched the stop loss level so our long trade closed with a loss of 110 points. The Nifty continued trading choppy and volatile. An intraday rally of almost 100 points and a sharp intraday decline of almost 150 points shows how volatile prices are moving.

The index came back inside its previous range of 15050-15250. If this correction continued then a dip towards 15050 support will give us a buying opportunity and if the index started moving up then a breakout above 15250 will also give us a buying opportunity.

BANK NIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened at 37041.95 with a gap down of 86 points. The index traded very choppy and saw lots of ups and downs and finally closed at 36910 with a loss of more than 200 points. PSU Banks have outperformed and closed higher by 5.68% while Private Banks have closed lower by 0.95%. Within the index, in terms of points SBI contributed highest while HDFC Bank the lowest.

Bank Nifty continued trading very choppy for the second day after a decisive breakout from a narrow trading range. The trend remains up. The immediate next support lies at 36000. We should look to buy on any dips around this support with immediate resistance visible around 37500-37700
