Nifty elite

NIFTY:

The Nifty opened the day with a gap up of 57 points at 15371.45 but was not able to hold the gains for long and witnessed a sharp intraday decline and closed the day almost unchanged. The Nifty rallied after a higher opening for the first 20 minutes and then moved sideways. Around 11:00 the index started drifting downwards and recorded its intraday low at 15242.20. Prices have seen some recovery in the last one and half hours of trading and finally closed at 15313.45 on a flattish note. The Metal sector shone and closed higher by 2.89% whereas the IT sector was the biggest underperformed and closed lower by 1.49%.
Daybefore we took a long trade around 15310 with a stop at 15200 and a target of around 15550. The index neither touched the stop nor the target so this trade remains intact. A breakout from the trading range of 15050-15250 did not see a follow through. The intraday movement was very volatile. Bears tried to take control in the second half of trading sessions but bulls gave a tough fight and narrowed losses towards the close of the trade. The previous resistance level of 15250 should now act as a support zone for any dip it will be a buying opportunity in the Nifty.

BANK NIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened at 37492.60 with a gap up of 66 points. The index rallied higher for the first 15 minutes of trading and recorded its intraday high at 37708.75. Prices then fell down to record its intraday low at 36762.75 and finally closed at 37098. PSU Banks have outperformed and closed higher by 1.65% while Private Banks have closed lower by 0.45%. Within the index in terms of points Kotak Bank contributed highest while ICICI Bank the lowest. We were long in the index from 35700 with a stop of 35400and target of 37500. The index opened and settled around 37500 so our trade closed with a gain of 1800 points. A trading range breakout daybefore did not follow through. Prices have seen a sharp decline of more than 900 points but late recovery managed to close above 37000.
